City of Redmond, Washington -- Transportation Master Plan
Background
Charlier Associates developed a Transportation Master Plan (TMP) for the City of Redmond, Washington that was adopted 2005. The City of Redmond is located in the Puget Sound Region just east of Seattle. CAI worked with an intedepartmental team, City Council, Redmond Citizens, Metro, and Sound Transit to plan a multimodal transportation network in Redmond.
CAI is currently helping the City of Redmond with the Update to the Redmond TMP
Key Project Recommendations
- Develop a set of multimodal travel corridors for pedestrians, bicycles, transit, and automobiles.
- Reorganized transportation facilities plan that is balanced and provides for multimodal improvements.
- Build pedestrian environments and facilities that are compatible with land use and roadway corridors.
- Build a bicycle network with long travel corridors; not just facilities.
- Coordinate local and regional transit with service providers. Adhere to travel time standards between destinations as recommended by the community.
- Work toward concurrency management using a system that is sensible about motor vehicle traffic and promotes time competitive alternative modes.
