Bicycle Systems
The first vehicle most people learn how to operate is a bicycle. Many of us have continued to use this vehicle for transportation and recreation while others want to see our children enjoy two wheels again. CAI develops bicycle systems, not just facilities, for clients nationwide that meet this need. We understand that communities need a variety of facilities and have a lot of different users.
Making Connections: The 2014 Phoenix Comprehensive Bicycle Master Plan
The City of Phoenix worked with the consulting firms of Lee Engineering, Toole Design Group, and Charlier Associates to develop a citywide Bicycle Master Plan that documents existing bicycling infrastructure and propose a set of projects to expand the system, create connectivity across the city and with neighboring communities. The final document was completed in August 2014.

Rifle, CO Citywide Bike Master Plan
Charlier Associates, Inc. led a multi-disciplinary team on a large downtown redevelopment project in Rifle, CO. The project was funded with a HUD Regional Challenge Grant and TIGER II funding to identify opportunity sites for redevelopment using place-making design components and an analysis of economic trends and forecasts. A key recommendation coming out of the TOD planning effort was to enhance multimodal connectivity by developing a citywide Bicycle Master Plan as part of Phase II of the project in 2013 to link all parts of the community into and through Downtown Rifle.

Thornton Parks and Recreation Open Space Master Plan
Charlier Associates, Inc. was part of a consulting team that originally integrated Thornton’s existing parks and open space plans into a vision for developing a continuous local and regional trail network. In 2000, our firm developed initial GIS planning and mapping tools for the community, a functional classification system to organize and plan for future facilities, and a uniform set of design standards for trails and associated amenities. In 2012, CAI was retained to update the Parks and Open Space Master Plan (POSMP).

Wheat Ridge, CO Pedestrian & Bicycle Streetscape Design
Charlier Associates, Inc. assisted the City of Wheat Ridge, CO, in moving forward with implementation of the vision of both its Streetscape Design Manual and Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. Our work integrated broad recommendations of the two documents while assessing the feasibility of restriping and/or reconstruction of 13 roadway corridors.
